SMTP

Send through the Notix SMTP relay from any app or framework that speaks SMTP.

Send through the Notix SMTP relay from any app, framework or plugin that can send over SMTP. Mail sent this way goes through the same pipeline as the API: the same suppression list, tracking and webhooks.

Prerequisites

Connection settings

SettingValue
Hostsmtp.usenotix.dev
Port465 for implicit TLS, or 587 for STARTTLS
Usernamenotix
PasswordYour Notix API key

There is no separate SMTP password. Revoke the key and the SMTP login stops working with it.

  1. Pick a port

    Use 465 if your client asks for SSL or TLS from the start. Use 587 if it asks for STARTTLS.

  2. Set the login

    The username is always notix. The password is your API key. Keep the key in your environment.

    NOTIX_API_KEY=notix_12345

  3. Send

    import nodemailer from "nodemailer";

    const transporter = nodemailer.createTransport({
      host: "smtp.usenotix.dev",
      port: 465,
      secure: true,
      auth: {
        user: "notix",
        pass: process.env.NOTIX_API_KEY,
      },
    });

    await transporter.sendMail({
      from: "Acme <receipts@acme.com>",
      to: "maria@example.com",
      subject: "Your receipt for order 4471",
      html: "<p>Thanks for your order, Maria.</p>",
    });

Sending from WordPress or another tool with an SMTP settings screen? Enter the same host, port, username and password, turn authentication on, and use a from address on your verified domain.
