Truehost

Step by step: add the Notix DKIM, SPF, MX and DMARC records for a domain whose DNS is at Truehost.

Use this guide if your domain is with Truehost in Kenya, Nigeria or elsewhere in Africa. With a hosting plan the records go in cPanel's Zone Editor. With Truehost's free DNS, they go in DNS Management on olitt.com.

Open your domain in Domains first and keep the page open. You copy every name and value from its DNS records table.

The records to add

TypeHost or NameValuePriority
TXTnotix._domainkeyp=... (copy the whole key)none
TXTmailv=spf1 include:_spf.usenotix.dev ~allnone
MXmailfeedback-smtp.<region>.amazonses.com10
TXT_dmarcv=DMARC1; p=none;none

These names are for a domain added as acme.com. Notix shows each name in the short form, without your main domain on the end, so copy it from your domain page as it is. If you added a subdomain such as news.acme.com, the names read mail.news and notix._domainkey.news; _dmarc stays the same. The DKIM name and key are different for every domain. The MX value names the region your domain sends from, for example feedback-smtp.eu-west-1.amazonses.com, so copy it from your domain page too.

Add them at Truehost

  1. Open the DNS screen

    With hosting: log in to cPanel, go to Zone Editor under Domains, and click Manage next to your domain.

    Free DNS, with nameservers ns1.olitt.com and ns1.olitt.net: log in on olitt.com, click DNS Management, find your domain and click Manage.

  2. Add each TXT record

    Click Add Record and choose TXT. Enter the name from the table, for example _dmarc, paste the value, and save. Repeat for the DKIM, SPF and DMARC records. On olitt.com, click Apply Changes when you are done.

  3. Add the MX record

    Click Add Record and choose MX. Enter mail as the name, 10 as the priority, and the MX value, for example feedback-smtp.eu-west-1.amazonses.com, as the destination. Save, and on olitt.com click Apply Changes.

Things to know at Truehost

  • Truehost's MX guide tells you to delete the current MX records first. That is for moving your inbox. Do not delete anything for Notix: the Notix MX record is a new one on mail.
  • cPanel's Zone Editor may show the name in full with a dot at the end, such as mail.acme.com.. If it asks for the full name, enter mail.acme.com. for a domain acme.com, and the same for the other names. After saving, check no name ends in your domain twice.
  • Truehost's examples use @, a blank name or the domain itself for the main domain. None of the Notix records go there.
  • Avoid Reset Zone in the Zone Editor settings. It puts back Truehost's default records and removes the ones you added.

SPF and DMARC: check before you add

  • SPF. A name can have only one SPF record. Notix puts its SPF on mail, not on your main domain, so it never clashes with the SPF your main domain may already have for your mailbox provider. Leave that one as it is. If mail itself already has a TXT record that starts with v=spf1, do not add a second one: edit it to include include:_spf.usenotix.dev.
  • DMARC. A domain can have only one DMARC record. If _dmarc already has a record that starts with v=DMARC1, keep it and skip the Notix one. Notix accepts the record you have. Two DMARC records cancel each other out, and mailbox providers then ignore both.
  • MX on `mail`. The MX record only takes bounce and complaint reports back to Notix. It does not touch the MX records on your main domain, so your normal inbox keeps working.

After you save

Truehost gives 24 to 48 hours for nameserver changes. A single new record is usually faster. Most records show in Notix within about 10 minutes.

You do not need to watch the page. Notix checks your records again on its own, and the domain turns Verified when the required records are found. To check straight away, open the domain in Domains and press Verify again. If a record is found at the wrong name, for example mail.acme.com.acme.com, the domain page says what to fix.

The records you add stay at your DNS host. Do not delete them later: Notix keeps checking them while you send.

Truehost's help pages show the screens but name few of the fields, so parts of the steps above are general. These are the Truehost pages we checked on 21 October 2026. If a label on your screen is different, follow your panel.
