Get started

Three steps, no plan.

  1. Turn on SMS

In your dashboard, open SMS & sender IDs and press Enable SMS.

  2. Top up your wallet

Pay in naira by card, bank transfer or mobile money. Each text is paid from the wallet.

  3. Send

From the API or the dashboard. Send a free test to your own number first.

Counting

How a text is counted.

A long message is split into parts. Each part is one text.
Message hasOne textEach part when longer
Plain letters and digits160 characters153
Emoji or other characters70 characters67

Example: a 200-character message in plain letters is 2 texts, so ₦16.10. A message can be up to 1,600 characters.

Fair billing

What you pay for.

  • Not sent? Money back. A text refused before it leaves Notix goes straight back to your wallet.
  • Sent but not delivered stays charged. The network was paid to carry it, for example when a number is switched off or on DND.
  • No monthly fee for SMS. Free and paid email plans both can send texts.
One-time codes

Send a code and check it, in two calls.

Notix makes the code, sends it, and checks what the user types. Wrong codes are counted and the code expires on its own.

  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"to":"+234XXXXXXXXXX","channel":"sms","appName":"Acme"}'

curl -X POST https://app.usenotix.dev/api/v1/verify/check \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NOTIX_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"id":"ver_…","code":"482913"}'
Sender name

Who the text comes from.

Texts go out from the shared Notix sender name. On a paid email plan you can register your own sender name, like your brand, for free. We submit it to the networks for approval, and your texts use it as soon as it is approved.

FAQ

SMS questions, answered.

Do I need a paid plan to send SMS?
No. SMS is paid from your wallet, on any plan, including Free.
How do I pay?
Top up your wallet in naira by card, bank transfer or mobile money. Each text is taken from the balance when it is queued.
Why does a one-time code cost more than a text?
A code is a text plus ₦1 for making the code, checking it and expiring it, so you don't build that yourself.
What happens if my wallet runs out?
The text is not sent and the API says the balance is too low. Nothing is charged. Top up and send again.
When will Kenya be available?
Soon. Kenyan numbers are being connected now; this page will show the price when they are live.
