Notix
Deliverability

Good sending habits, built into every domain.

Notix gives you the records to authenticate your domain, checks a message before it goes, keeps one list of people who must not be emailed, and pauses a domain on its own before a bad list damages its name.

Authentication

Prove the mail is really from you

Mailbox providers trust a domain that signs its mail. Notix gives you every record and checks them for you.

Your records, ready to copy

Add a domain and the Domains page lists its records: SPF with include:_spf.usenotix.dev, a DKIM key, the MX for bounces and a DMARC record. Notix checks them for you and marks each one when it resolves.

  • One domain's problems never touch another domain's reputation
  • Add and verify domains from the API too, with notix.domains.create()

One click instead of copy and paste

Where your DNS host supports Domain Connect and carries the Notix template, the Domains page offers a one-click setup. You approve the change at your DNS host, and the records are in place without a single copied value.

Not every DNS host supports it. Where yours does not, the records are there to copy.

Your DNS host supports Domain Connect

Notix can add the four records for acme.com at your DNS host. You sign in there and approve. Nothing else changes in your zone.

Automatic pause

A domain that stops before it gets hurt

Bounces and spam complaints are what get a domain blocked. Notix watches both and steps in early.

See where the lines are

Every domain is judged on its last 7 days of sending, once it has sent at least 200 emails. Move the sliders to see what Notix would do.

  • Warning at 2% hard bounces or 0.05% complaints. Sending carries on.
  • Pause at 4% hard bounces, or 0.08% complaints with at least 5 complaints.
  • Paused mail is held, not dropped. Ask for a review from the Domains page.

Before you send

Find the problem before your customers do

Run a message through the deliverability check, or ask the send endpoint what it would do without sending.

Check before you send
import { Notix } from "notix-js";

const notix = new Notix(process.env.NOTIX_API_KEY);

const { data } = await notix.deliverability.check({
  from: "Acme <news@acme.com>",
  subject: "October offers",
  html: newsletterHtml,
  marketing: true,
});

// data.verdict: "PASS", "WARN" or "BLOCK"
for (const finding of data?.findings ?? []) {
  console.log(finding.severity, finding.title, finding.fix);
}

A dry run of any send

Add the Notix-Dry-Run: true header to a send and Notix answers with who it would reach, what it would cost and whether it would be allowed, with every reason it would be refused. Nothing is sent or charged.

When the check blocks a send, a deliverability.blocked webhook tells your system which findings stopped it.

Notix-Dry-Run: true
curl -X POST https://app.usenotix.dev/api/v1/emails \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $NOTIX_API_KEY" \
  -H "Notix-Dry-Run: true" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "from": "news@acme.com", "to": "amara@example.com", ... }'

# 200 with "dryRun": true: who it would reach, what it would cost,
# and a verdict with every reason it would be refused.
# Nothing is sent, charged or written.

The rules that protect every send

One suppression list

Hard bounces, complaints and unsubscribes are never sent to again, whichever way the send came in.

API, SMTP, broadcasts

Held, not lost

A paused domain holds its queue. On resume the held mail is sent or cancelled, never sent by surprise.

Paused domains

Test without risk

A dry run shows who a send would reach and sends nothing. Test emails.

Dry run

Watch bounce and complaint rates over time on the Metrics page.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Which DNS records do I need to publish?
Notix shows each record for your domain: an MX and an SPF record on a mail subdomain, a DKIM key, and a DMARC record we recommend. Publish them at your DNS host and the domain verifies once they resolve. If your DNS host supports Domain Connect, one click sets them up for you.
I already have an SPF record. Do I add a second one?
No. A name can only have one SPF record. The Notix SPF record goes on a mail subdomain, and if you already have one there, add the Notix include to it rather than creating another.
When does Notix pause a domain?
Over the last 7 days, once a domain has sent at least 200 emails: at a 4% hard bounce rate, or at a 0.08% complaint rate with at least 5 complaints. At 2% bounces or 0.05% complaints the domain gets a warning and keeps sending.
What happens to my email while a domain is paused?
Queued mail is held, not dropped. You ask for a review from the Domains page, and when the domain is resumed the held mail is either sent or cancelled, because the list that caused the bounces is often the one that should not go out.
Will Notix send to someone who unsubscribed or bounced?
No. Hard bounces, spam complaints and unsubscribes go on one suppression list, and any send to an address on it is skipped, whether it came from the API, SMTP or a broadcast. You can add addresses to the list yourself too.
What does the deliverability check look at?
The message you are about to send: its content, links and settings. It returns PASS, WARN or BLOCK, a score, and each finding with a plain fix. A BLOCK is a message the send paths would refuse, so you find out before your customers do.
