Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Notix collects when you visit usenotix.dev, and what it processes when you use the Notix application to send email.

Who we are

Notix operates the marketing website at usenotix.dev and the Notix application. Notix is the data controller for the information described in this policy. Notix is an independent product; no data described here is shared with any other organisation.

Controller and processor

For your account information and site usage, Notix is the controller. For the contacts, recipients and message content you send through the product, you are the controller and Notix is your processor: we handle that data on your instructions, to deliver the mail you asked us to deliver.

What we collect

  • Site usage. Aggregated traffic measurement via Simple Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not identify you. If you accept cookies, we also use Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion measurement, and record which page brought you to Notix. See Cookies below.
  • Server and security logs. Our hosting infrastructure processes IP addresses and basic request metadata transiently for security, reliability and debugging.
  • Account data. Your name, email address, team membership, API keys and billing details when you sign up.
  • Sending data. The messages you send, their recipients, and the delivery, bounce and complaint events the mailbox provider returns.

How we use it

  • Operate, secure and maintain the site and the product.
  • Deliver the email you send and report on what happened to it.
  • Maintain suppression lists, so an address that bounced or complained is not mailed again.
  • Bill you for metered usage.
  • Send transactional email about your own account.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

Legal bases

Where applicable (for example in the EEA and UK) we rely on performance of a contract to run the service, on legitimate interests to secure it and measure aggregate site usage with Simple Analytics, on your consent for the analytics and advertising cookies described below, and on consent for optional marketing email. You are responsible for the lawful basis on which you email your own recipients.

Sub-processors

  • Amazon Web Services (SES). Delivers the email you send.
  • Our hosting provider. Serves the site and runs the application and its database.
  • Simple Analytics. Aggregated, privacy-preserving traffic measurement on the marketing site.
  • Google (Analytics 4 and Ads). Traffic and sign-up measurement on the marketing site and the app, only if you accept cookies. Ad personalisation is off.
  • Our payment processor. Handles card details for paid plans. Notix does not store card numbers.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.

Cookies

When you first visit usenotix.dev or the Notix app, a bar at the bottom of the page asks you to accept or reject cookies. One choice covers both sites.

  • nx_consent remembers your choice, for one year. It is set whichever you choose.
  • nx_attr is set only if you accept. It holds the page you arrived on, the site that sent you, and any campaign tags and ad click identifiers in the page address, for 90 days, so we can tell which pages and ads lead to sign-ups. The app reads it once, when you sign up.
  • Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies (names starting _ga and _gcl) are set by Google only if you accept. Until you choose, Google Analytics is not loaded. Ad personalisation stays off either way.
  • Simple Analytics sets no cookies, so it runs whatever you choose.
  • Support chat. The chat inside the Notix app is provided by tawk.to. When it loads, tawk.to may store its own cookies and similar data in your browser so a conversation can carry on from page to page. They are used for the chat.

None of these cookies contains your name or email address. To change your choice, use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page on usenotix.dev, or in the team menu in the app. If you switch to Reject, we delete nx_attr and the Google cookies and stop measuring.

Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including security and legal compliance. Suppression entries are retained for as long as your account exists, because deleting them would let a burned address be mailed again. The content of emails you send through Notix (the message body, headers and attachments) is deleted from 30 days after the email is created, once it can no longer be sent; the delivery record (recipient, subject, status and dates) is kept as your sending history. Aggregated analytics do not identify individuals.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country of residence. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for cross-border transfers.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Contact us to exercise them; we may ask you to verify your identity first. If you are a recipient of mail sent through Notix by one of our customers, that customer is the controller of your data, and we will forward your request to them.

Children

The service is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date below reflects the most recent change.
