Wix

Step by step: add the Notix DKIM, SPF, MX and DMARC records in the DNS records of your Wix account.

Use this guide if your domain uses the Wix nameservers, which end in wixdns.net. If your domain only points at Wix and its nameservers are somewhere else, add the records at that other company instead.

Open your domain in Domains first and keep the page open. You copy every name and value from its DNS records table.

The records to add

TypeHost NameValuePriority
TXTnotix._domainkeyp=... (copy the whole key)none
TXTmailv=spf1 include:_spf.usenotix.dev ~allnone
MXmailfeedback-smtp.<region>.amazonses.com10
TXT_dmarcv=DMARC1; p=none;none

These names are for a domain added as acme.com. Notix shows each name in the short form, without your main domain on the end, so copy it from your domain page as it is. If you added a subdomain such as news.acme.com, the names read mail.news and notix._domainkey.news; _dmarc stays the same. The DKIM name and key are different for every domain. The MX value names the region your domain sends from, for example feedback-smtp.eu-west-1.amazonses.com, so copy it from your domain page too.

Add them at Wix

  1. Open Manage DNS Records

    Go to Domains in your Wix account. Click the Domain Actions icon next to your domain and select Manage DNS Records.

  2. Add each TXT record

    In the TXT (Text) section, click + Add Record.

    1. In Host Name, enter the name from the table, for example _dmarc.
    2. In Value, paste the value.
    3. Leave the TTL at its default.
    4. Click Save, then Save Changes in the pop-up.

    Repeat for the DKIM, SPF and DMARC records.

  3. Add the MX record on mail

    Look for the MX section on the same Manage DNS Records screen and add a record there with mail as the host name and the MX value from your domain page. Do not use Edit MX Records from the Domain Actions menu: that screen sets the mail servers for your main domain, the ones your inbox uses. If you cannot set the host name to mail, ask Wix support how to add an MX record on a subdomain.

Things to know at Wix

  • Where other hosts use @ for the main domain, Wix wants Host Name left blank. None of the Notix records go on the main domain.
  • Wix sets MX priorities itself: the first MX record on a name gets 10, the next 20. You cannot change them, and you do not need to.
  • Wix's help pages do not say whether Host Name adds your domain for you. Enter the short name, such as _dmarc, and check the full name Wix shows after you save.
  • Wix recommends leaving TTL at the default. A shorter TTL does not make a new record appear faster.

SPF and DMARC: check before you add

  • SPF. A name can have only one SPF record. Notix puts its SPF on mail, not on your main domain, so it never clashes with the SPF your main domain may already have for your mailbox provider. Leave that one as it is. If mail itself already has a TXT record that starts with v=spf1, do not add a second one: edit it to include include:_spf.usenotix.dev.
  • DMARC. A domain can have only one DMARC record. If _dmarc already has a record that starts with v=DMARC1, keep it and skip the Notix one. Notix accepts the record you have. Two DMARC records cancel each other out, and mailbox providers then ignore both.
  • MX on `mail`. The MX record only takes bounce and complaint reports back to Notix. It does not touch the MX records on your main domain, so your normal inbox keeps working.

After you save

Wix gives no time for a single record. For nameserver changes it says up to 48 hours. Most records show in Notix within about 10 minutes.

You do not need to watch the page. Notix checks your records again on its own, and the domain turns Verified when the required records are found. To check straight away, open the domain in Domains and press Verify again. If a record is found at the wrong name, for example mail.acme.com.acme.com, the domain page says what to fix.

The records you add stay at your DNS host. Do not delete them later: Notix keeps checking them while you send.
