Windsurf's Cascade, connected to Notix.
Windsurf takes MCP servers through Cascade. Pick Windsurf on the Connect your AI page, paste the config block it shows into Cascade's raw MCP config, and Cascade can send a test, check a domain or read a bounce, and write the email code your app ships.
Send an email from Windsurf.
Add email sending with Notix (npm package notix-js, docs at https://usenotix.dev/docs).
Send from a server-side route only, reading the key from the NOTIX_API_KEY
environment variable. Never put the key in client code. Add a POST route that sends a welcome email.
import { Notix } from "notix-js";
const notix = new Notix(process.env.NOTIX_API_KEY!);
export async function POST(request: Request) {
const { to } = await request.json();
const { data, error } = await notix.emails.send({
from: "Acme <hello@acme.com>",
to,
subject: "Welcome to Acme",
html: "<p>Glad you are here.</p>",
});
if (error) return Response.json({ error }, { status: 502 });
return Response.json({ id: data?.emailId });
}
The from address must be on a domain you have verified in Notix. Step by step: Connect your AI.
Ask for a server-side send, with the key in the environment.
When Windsurf writes the email code for your app, ask for it in a server route or server function that reads NOTIX_API_KEY from the environment. A key in client code is public the moment the app is deployed.
The from address must be on a domain you have verified in Notix. Until it is, check sends with the Notix-Dry-Run: true header, which sends nothing.
Give Windsurf the Notix tools.
Notix hosts an MCP server at https://app.usenotix.dev/api/mcp. On Connect your AI, pick Windsurf, then paste the config block into Cascade, MCP servers, View raw config, and save. The local runner block below works too.
Ask for a dry run first: Notix checks the send and sends nothing. A Live key sends from one verified domain, asks for approval before a send to more than 50 people by default, and cannot delete anything or change billing.
